Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Refresher Practice Test

SCIFs protect SCI by how the material is stored and how the facility operates to maintain protection. The main ways this storage is classified focus on the level of access and continuity of protection: a Closed Storage SCIF uses tightly controlled, locked storage with restricted access when SCI is not in active use; an Open Storage SCIF allows SCI to be accessed more readily during operations but still stays within the secure SCIF boundaries with appropriate handling procedures; a Continuous Operation SCIF is set up to stay operational around the clock, with ongoing monitoring, staffing, and safeguards to ensure constant protection of SCI during extended or ongoing missions.

Restricted Storage SCIF isn’t part of these standard classifications. It isn’t a recognized primary type because the protections you need are achieved through established storage configurations and access controls within the SCIF, not a separate category.
